Operations Management Simulation

In the Operations Management Simulation module, students learn the basics of modelling and simulation in order to efficiently analyse and optimise operations management processes. AnyLogic software is used to simulate operational scenarios in order to understand complex interrelationships and develop innovative solutions.

Contents of the module:

  • Introduction to modelling methods: agent-based modelling (AM), dynamic systems modelling (DS) and event-driven modelling (EM)
  • Application of the simulation software AnyLogic
  • Practical simulation of business processes such as market behaviour, wind turbine maintenance, job shop processes or glass bottle production
  • Working on practical research questions in the field of operations management

The module combines classroom teaching, tutorials and independent exercises. It is aimed at students who are interested in designing industrial processes and are willing to work with new software tools. The examination comprises a practice-orientated simulation and a written assignment.
